A weekend house on the northern coast of Ilhabela, designed to open entirely to the prevailing south-east breeze and the view of the mainland hills.
The house is a single-storey concrete and steel frame wrapped in a deep veranda. The veranda mediates the climate: it shades the interior from the summer sun while channelling the breeze.
The interior is open-plan, divided only by a service core in solid ipê that contains the kitchen, bathrooms, and storage. Beds and baths are in separate pavilions connected by a covered walkway through the garden.
The veranda is four metres deep on the western elevation — more than the clients initially expected, and now the part of the house they value most.
