Forma Atelier
A house for a young family occupying a narrow lot in Pinheiros. The brief asked for openness, natural light, and a clear separation between the more public ground floor and the quieter spaces above.
The structure is a poured concrete frame with timber infill panels on the upper floors. A central courtyard brings afternoon light deep into the plan and provides a transition between the kitchen and the garden.
The palette is deliberately narrow: natural concrete, pale cumaru decking, and white plaster. The work of landscape designer Andrea Couto animates the exterior with a planting scheme of native Atlantic forest species.
The decision to orient the living spaces to the west was a direct response to the clients' wish for afternoon light. Deep overhangs shade the glazing in summer while allowing winter sun to penetrate deep into the plan.
